Hi John....we visited Costa Rica a few weeks ago and largely self drove / guided.
- it's a pretty simple country to navigate so long as you have a good (Toyota!) 4x4.

On an early morning walk recently I came across groups of Common Terns and Black Skimmers gathering on the shoreline of a beach in SW Florida.
I positioned sat with the sun to my back and periodically the birds would take flight.
I'm sure there is an effective way to photograph birds in this...
About 18 months ago I was given an R7 as a retirement present.
I have used my 5Div and 6Dii bodies for many years and have a range of L lenses.
The lenses work perfectly on the R7 and I am now just waiting for Canon to release the R5ii so I can go fully mirrorless.

We rented a house high on a promontory overlooking the Pacific in Costa Rica.
There was a fruiting shrub in the garden which was popular with Scarlet Macaw's who proved to be extremely noisy, but very entertaining neighbours.
