Trying again

I found that being patient with shieldbugs pays off, eventually you'll get one that's not so shy.

For me anyway - it's all about getting to a position so that you can use a high number f value and being able to effectively light the subject, normal light would be great but most of the time it's hit and miss so you have to use flash set up usually that's designed for close up images......... or make your own flash defusers.

There is quite a lot on utube - I spent one summer constantly in the back garden - or if you have a greenhouse that attracts a lot of bugs and in the greenhouse you will not be troubled by a breeze as even the slightest breeze will spoil your shots.

Also "stacking" is an addiction - you will end up "stacking" 20 or more shots to get sharpness throughout the image

Good luck at least you will discover how many different photo possibilities there are within a few yards of your house.
