Haggerston's Tin Tabernacle. Believed to be London's oldest Tin Tabernacle and one of only three surviving. Shrublands Road London E8. Built in 1858 at a cost of £1250.
This church at Bouresse, Vienne has a bas-relief showing the same scene as another church at Chassenon in the Charente.
At Chassenon where there used to be a Roman spa (not a shop) the relief is damaged. Theologens have been debating the missing parts of the scene for over 100 years coming up with all sorts of theories.
At Bouresse the same figures can be seen in the middle scene. These have been carved more delicately owing to it being on a smoother grained stone. I came across this yesterday and put 2 & 2 together. Nobody had imagined the right scenario.
The other scenes, particularly the one on the right can be found in churches in Brittany. They date from around 700AD.
